UPCOMING PRODUCTIONS
Bay Saint Louis Little Theatre Announces Show Dates for ‘Always a Bridesmaid’
The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre is in rehearsal for its next season show “Always a Bridesmaid” which is another Southern fried comedy by the comedic writers Jone Wooten and Hope. The show opens on April 10.
This is a hilarious comedic romp about four friends who have sworn to keep the promise they made on their Senior Prom night: to be in each other’s weddings...no matter what. Fast forward thirty years and laugh at their adventures while keeping their promise to each other.
The show is a rollicking tale of four loyal and determined women who definitively answer the question, “Just how far are you willing to go to keep a promise to a friend?” If you have ever elbowed a stranger out of the way to catch a bride’s bouquet or have been forced to wear the world’s ugliest bridesmaid dress, then you will be laughing out loud while watching this show.
The show dates and times are April 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 8 pm and Sunday matinees April 12 and 19 at 2 pm.
UPCOMING EVENTS
‘Roots to Rockets’ Oral History Film to Screen at Bay St. Louis Little Theatre
On Wednesday, March 4th, 6:00-7:30 pm, the public is invited to attend a free showing of “Roots to Rockets”, an oral history documentary preserving the history of the lost communities of Hancock County.
The film is a tribute to the residents of Pearlington, Gainesville, Napoleon, Santa Rosa, Logtown, and Westonia who were relocated in the early 1960s to make way for NASA’s main rocket testing facility, known then as the Mississippi Test Facility and now, Stennis Space Center. The government’s acquisition of 125,000 acres of land led to the uprooting of these long-established communities, and it was the vision of two local Bay St. Louis residents to capture first-hand accounts of this transitional time.
The producers of “Roots to Rockets”, Matt Barrett and Brehm Bell, worked for over a year in order to present this compilation of oral histories as an important part of our local stories. A discussion will follow the presentation with emphasis on the strength of local communities and the importance of preserving our past.
Brehm Bell, who grew up in Pearlington, has long been moved by the stories of these displaced families and is dedicated to preserving their remarkable experiences. Videographer Matt Barrett worked with former residents of the Lost Communities to capture their stories and compile the interviews into a 32 minute film. These recordings will be accessible to the public through the Hancock County Historical Society and the Hancock County Library System.
The screening will be hosted at the Bay St. Louis Little Theater, beginning at 6pm and admission is free. Donations to the Bay St. Louis Little Theater are appreciated. Reservations are not required and seating is limited. If you need special accommodation for accessibility, please call 228-216-2200.

Specifically, the Little Theatre building was the primary set for the first major Hollywood motion picture filmed in Mississippi based on a one act play written by Williams. The play “This Property is Condemned” was adapted into the movie of the same name starring Natalie Wood and Robert Redford and directed by Sidney Pollack and was filmed in 1965.
